2010
In January 2010, the worst earthquake in 200 years struck the island nation of Haiti, leaving utter decimation in its wake—along with an immediate need for worldwide support of the Haitian people. In order to provide much-needed funds, Utah-based Young Living Essential Oils partnered with The D. Gary Young Foundation: Young Living Outreach in a joint effort that led to the donation of more than $50,000 for relief aid through the Healing Hands for Haiti organization.
With the new Chongon Elementary School's successful completion, the need for an improved high school became imminent. The D. Gary Young Foundation recently broke ground on what will soon be a next step in increased educational opportunities for the children of Chongon, Ecuador.
As part of The D. Gary Young Foundation's growing involvement in the Chongon community, and in conjunction with breaking ground on a new high school, the foundation recently began construction on a new fine arts building. This extension of the Chongon Schools ensures that as children start attending high school, the arts will play a prominent role in their continued education.
The D. Gary Young Foundation and the Quiet Way "Give a Dam" project are working to build dams in Kakamega, Kenya, to provide much-needed water to villages in the surrounding areas.
Currently, the local population in Kenya digs temporary wells to a rough depth of 30 feet. These boreholes dry up quickly and end up negatively impacting the local water table. Alternatively, dams provide a permanent resource. They fill quickly during scarce monsoon seasons, raise the water table, and save the lives of humans and animals alike. Ground was broken in November 2009 for the dam, which will provide water for wildlife and approximately 2,000 people in ten villages.
2009
When Gary and Mary Young moved to Ecuador to start the newest of Young Living's farms, they were soon struck by the poor conditions of Chongon's only schoolhouse. Soon they involved The D. Gary Young Foundation in the building of a new elementary school, and developed an improved curriculum complete with courses on farming and raising livestock. The new school now comfortably accommodates Chongon’s elementary-aged students, and the children have the supplies they need to ensure a proper education.

2006–2008
Once the longest-lived people in the world, the Tarahumara Indians' life expectancy dropped from 100 years to just 50 years in only a few short decades. Determined to help, Gary Young began organizing a relief effort to bring resources to the Tarahumara people.
After months of planning and fundraising, and thanks to many generous donations, The D. Gary Young Foundation raised thousands for the Tarahumara people. In 2003, foundation volunteers traveled to Mexico to deliver food and supplies, and began building a new elementary school. After seven days of working hand-in-hand with the Tarahumara people, the foundation's goal of bringing relief to this community was realized.
The Cinterandes Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the availability of medical care to those in remote and impoverished areas. The Cinterandes Foundation travels to villages in a fully equipped mobile surgical unit. Its low complication rate and availability for follow-up gives people in remote areas access to top-quality medical treatment, which was previously unavailable. Moved by the work the Cinterandes Foundation does to bring medical care to those who need it most, The D. Gary Young Foundation donates money, labor, and supplies.
