Chongon School in Guayaquil, Ecuador

While in Guayaquil, Ecuador, discovering and cultivating natural remedies indigenous to the area, foundation founder, Gary Young, noticed the poor condition of Guayaquil's elementary school. Forty-two students in first- through sixth-grade were crammed into one tiny room, forced to share limited supplies and sit at broken tables while their volunteer teacher gave lessons on a damaged chalkboard.

Project update:

Thanks to The D. Gary Young Foundation's contributions, construction is continuing on a new Chongon School. The first floor is almost complete. The electrical work and exterior are finished and the roof is on. The next needs are to fund and install the finishing touches, cabinets, toilets, sinks, desks, etc., and to hire teachers.

Help finish the school:

The D. Gary Young Foundation needs your continued support to complete the Chongon School. Without your help, the school's opening may be delayed and the children left waiting. Help the foundation give the children of Guayaquil the kind of the education most of us take for granted—one with updated learning materials, new supplies, and, for the first time ever, a playground.
